March 2015 Savings Goals

March Savings Goals

When the going gets tough, the tough get saving. Despite March being a month full of unexpected/partially expected expenses (winter bike storage fee, sports league fee, new cellphone balance, an unplanned work party, a handful of cabs, etc) I still managed to make my savings goals this month!

What did I get up to this March?
Honestly? I was dreading this question. The answer is that I didn’t get up to very much this month. It was a real heads-down period for me at work and the weather didn’t help matters much either. 2015 has been off to a rough start so I’m really hoping April makes up for it. On the plus side, this is probably why, despite all the bills that rolled in this month, I was able to save. Silver lining?

March Goals

  • Transfer my RRSP. Finally. – NOPE
  • Do my taxes. – I’m about halfway there, just collecting some slips
  • Finish 4 books. – Done!
  • Go to the gym 6 times! – Try NOT EVEN ONCE, not even joking.
  • Go skating three times before it gets warm, hah. – No 🙁

Sooo, March didn’t exactly pan out. Let’s hope I have better luck this month!

February Savings Goals – By the numbers

TFSA/Emergency Fund

January – Goal $600/month. Actual: $600

Even though March came with a lot of bills, I still managed to push through my savings at the end of the day. I think I was really motivated because of my recent post about re-evaluating my Emergency Fund. This time next month it should be full and I can work on saving up more in my vacation fund, savings account and RRSP.

January – Goal: $300/month. Actual: $300 ($300 in my Tangerine RSP Mutual Fund)

Still $300 for now, will re-evaluate once I finish filling up my e-fund.

Vacation Fund

January – Goal: $100/month. Actual: $100, automatic monthly withdrawal. Joint account with my boyfriend.

Ho-hum, vacation seems so far away 🙁

Short-Term Savings

January – Goal: $100/month. Actual: $100

Planned Savings: Driving lessons, I’m tired of being a lazy urbanite, I need some wheels!

Savings Goals Round-Up

January Savings Goals: $1100. Actual: $925 or $1025 depending on how you look at it. (-$75-175)
February Savings Goals: $1100. Actual: $1100 ($0)
March Savings Goals: $1100. Actual: $1100 ($0)

April Goals

  • Transfer my RRSP. SERIOUSLY.

  • Finish 4 books
  • Go to the gym, just… go!
  • Pick my driving school and sign up
