30 Before 30: 23 months to go!
Life’s been a bit of a whirlwind since I’ve returned from London, SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED THAT I CAN WRITE ABOUT! I got my first credit report (it’s EXCELLENT), I now qualify for RRSP contributions from my employer and now that one year has passed, I have to think about how to negotiate my one year review!
But every single time I sit down to write a new blog post since returning from London, I keep backing away saying “Oh god, this makes me sound boring!” or “OH GOD, I’m getting old!” or “Oh god, I’m getting old and look at all these whipper-snappers doing so much better than me, AND I’M BORING!”
And usually what I do after is sit on the couch, eat cookies and watch Gilmore Girls (because, obviously.) But today I was inspired to just accept my lot and update an older post of mine, so while I’m not REALLY writing anything new, I can pretend I am!
So what did I do? I updated my 30 before 30! You can see the old post here but I’ve decided to finally follow through and make some SMART goals, (you know, Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely just like my 2013 resolutions). So hopefully with this list I can finally commit to growing up, at least a little bit.
I think the impetus to get all this stuff together has really struck me due to my recent birthday. When my mom was 28, she was married, had been working full-time for a few years, was a homeowner and she had ME! Now that I’m 28? I have three cats, a loving boyfriend and a rented apartment? I mean, I know we’re all doing things differently these days but it’s definitely weird when you think about it. I like the idea of plotting this stuff out to follow my trajectory over the next two years and see how close I can get!
Do you have a 30 before 30? Or something similar? What’s on it?
